I’ve been a bad girl …

Anyone who read my post in July, or my author’s profile in the RWA Spicy Bites Anthology this year will be wondering – where are the novellas Josie planned to release by the end of the year?

Well, I sort of got caught up on the novel I’m writing based in 1920’s Washington DC and Jazz Age Paris. I have been working on the novellas, I promise… the first, a Girls on Film novella – Little Blond Lies is now available on Amazon and KDP.

To make it up to you, here’s a little teaser of the hot chemistry between streaming tv star Ethan Cox (when you read it you may notice an uncanny resemblance to a certain Last Kingdom hottie…) and Shakespearean stage actress Anya Stein when they meet in a steamy seaside town in Portugal. All I’m going to say is that Anya is out for revenge, but what she gets is so much hotter… if you like the taste and want more check it out on Amazon.

But, before I tease you, take a look at this…

Rituals of Lust

As promised – I’d love to share with you a short excerpt from my short story ‘Esther Jones and the Temple of the Moon’, recently published in the RWA Spicy Bites Anthology ‘Masks’. I hope you enjoy reading it half as much as I did writing it. But first, a quick intro…

Egypt 1939 AD: Esther Jones, archaeologist turned treasure hunter, unearths an unusual ritual mask in an ancient temple. When she shows the find to her business partner, they discover first-hand the sensual spells woven into the mask with her ancestor’s long dark hair, 4333 years earlier.

Egypt 2394 BC: With her village dying of famine, high priestess Hesta takes unprecedented steps to enhance the annual fertility ritual, transforming it into a true union between the bull god and the moon goddess. Will Hesta be rewarded with the survival of her tribe or punished for her audacity?

Exciting news!

I am thrilled to announce that one of my short stories – this time a dual timeline (quite a challenge when working with a limit of 5000 words) – won a coveted place in the RWA 2019 Spicy Bites Anthology: Masks.

Esther Jones and the Temple of the Moon is my first foray into Historical Erotic Short Fiction, and is now available on Amazon (click on the link to take a look).

I would love to share with you a short excerpt from the story… in my next post (soon, I promise!)

Multiple Sensual Releases

It has been awfully quiet on this page, but for very good reason, I promise!

I’ve been working on six new novellas, which I plan to release between September and December this year. I’ll keep you posted, and let you know as soon as I have a definite date for the first new adventure.

My new stories range from women’s fiction with a sensual twist (tentatively labelled Blush) to spicy romantic suspense (Girls on Film) and very spicy (Black Label).

Sexy woman with lingerie

Teasers for the spiciest? An unusual high-stakes poker game will give you a peek into the world of my sexy martial arts instructor who stars in the award winning short story Daisy, Chained. I’m so excited to finally be able to share this story with you, which I’ll include as a bonus with Pokerface.

I’m also half-way through a full length work of sensual suspense about a girl down on her luck who runs away to a tropical island to reinvent herself, and a chef with a knife fetish. I’m hoping to have this one ready for release early next year, but I’ll share spicy bites of it as I progress. With a foreplay session months long, I hope the release will be memorable 😉

Naked in public

Getting acquainted with the characters in my stories is always a joy to me, whether they are easy-going and likeable, or emotionally damaged. Like getting to know a new friend, sometimes one will catch me off-guard by revealing a surprising detail about themselves. This happened to me yesterday, when my current protagonist let me know she’s a naturist. I have no idea where it came from–I’ve never met a naturist before (that I know of) and haven’t ever had a reason to research the lifestyle. My only brush with naturism was in the sauna on a cruise ship that departed from Hamburg with mostly German guests…

Anyway, when Alex (a sculptor) made it clear that being naked is crucial to her creativity, I was intrigued. And when she’s offered a commission to create a sculpture in a public park (in my current work in progress), I couldn’t help but get excited. What would she do? The work promises to generate valuable publicity for her career, but will being naked beneath her overalls be enough to satisfy her muse? If her employer, workmates or the general public found out about her love of nakedness, would she be treated as a curiosity–or a pervert? And what sort of influence does being a naturist have on her sexuality?

When I thought about it, it seemed the nudist lifestyle had gone quiet lately–doubtless due to the recent social sensitivity to sexual harassment–so I did a little digging.

A prize for Spicy writing

Well, it’s that time of year again – I’m off to Sydney for the annual RWA conference, and I’m going as a prize-winner!

I recently ranked first in the Spicy Bites competition, and my story Daisy, Chained, will appear in the annual RWA Short Story Anthology Chains, which is being released on August 18 (this Saturday).

The story was a pleasure to write, the words seeming to flow through me–almost writing themselves–from my imagination onto the page. I almost felt like an imposter when I heard I’d received a score of 100% from the judges.

Spicy Bites announcement

I would love to share with you a short excerpt. But first a quick background…

Daisy, hiding the vulnerable side of her nature behind her adopted name Kalika (for the warrior goddess), is the only female member of a private martial arts club.

Hiro is a special guest, invited to demonstrate a weapon not previously used at the club – a chain whip. Sounds kinky, hey?

marathon lovemaking sessions and an e-book sale

So… as I’ve been editing my 130,000 word novel (which I have now finished and am about to send off for a structural edit). Part of the process was reducing (or removing) some of the more intense or ‘unsuitable’ love scenes. One of the scenes I cut back was at the sensual ‘climax’ of the story, the first time my heroine her dark and damaged Champagne producer give in to their lust.

Describing each act in a night of lovemaking was a bit extreme, so I removed the little one in the middle, and edited the rest down to their scintillating essence.

Circumstances have my lovers sharing a one bedroom cottage at Henri’s vineyard, but instead of arguing about who gets the bed, they fall in to it together.

One day I hope you’ll read my debut work of sensual women’s fiction, to read the scenes that made the cut, but for now, here’s a little tease…

deleted (sex) scenes

In case you’ve noticed how quiet things have been around here, it isn’t because I got caught in an alternate universe… I’ve been writing women’s fiction, which doesn’t really lend itself to making discoveries suitable for sharing here.

On the up-side of my ‘vanilla’ pursuits, I’m currently editing a story that I wrote with quite a lot of spicy sexual elements, most of which are going to need to be heavily edited or removed, so the story fits in with the rest of the series.

So, as I come across those naughty little scenes, I’ll share them here 😊 I hope you enjoy them.

And in the meantime, I’ve been exploring the ‘hows’ and ‘whys’ of the female foot as a sexual turn-on…

Alter-egos are healthy

Most people have an alter-ego, an aspect of themselves they like to, or need to, keep hidden from their family, children, work colleagues.

I have an alter ego. You’ve met her – Josie Baker. Although, because this is her blog, I guess it’s her ‘regular’, ‘respectable’ self who is the alternate personality here.

It amazes me that people who are a part of my regular life see me as demure – prim even, straight laced. My clients; the staff at my local library; the girl who does my facials and waxing; my acupuncturist; osteopath; doctor; the girls in my yoga class; don’t see the sexual nature that is so much a part of ‘me’. They would never suspect that I am Josie – the girl who writes erotica, who thinks about sex and fantasises about the many different sexual scenarios which could spring from the situations happening all around her, every day.

I could count on my 2 hands the people who know both of my personas – most of my writing friends know me as Josie, but only a very few know who Josie is with her mask on in the world of legitimate identities.

It is fun being two people. I love having an alter ego, and I love having a space for her to stretch and feel free to be herself. I love having an outlet for the secret part of me. I especially love everyone who visits to check in with me, those who ‘like’ one of my posts, or who decide to ‘follow’ and keep the connection.

Josie is the person I would have been if I’d made a different life for myself. You never know, maybe one day I’ll be brave and introduce myself as Josie Baker, and everyone will know what goes on in my head 😉

I plan to share more of my erotic fantasies in 2017, right here, so please drop in and say ‘hi’ sometime.

Wishing you a new year full of love and pleasure.

Jade egg as a writing aid?

It’s been a few months since my jade egg arrived, but I wanted to give my body some time to adjust before I wrote of my experiences.

I can’t be entirely sure of the physical changes since my egg and I first became acquainted, except that in the beginning, the muscles of my vaginal canal could only hold my egg for half an hour or so before my internal muscles tired. The time increased steadily and I quickly found I could go about my normal life with my egg inside. Now I can hold it indefinitely without trying, or being conscious of its presence. I assume from that change that my muscles have become stronger and more toned – and with very little effort.

The most noticeable difference though, is associated with creativity. If I am writing, by using my egg, I find the words flow easier and faster, and if I am having trouble connecting with my creativity (I wouldn’t call it writers block, more like constriction), with my egg as my companion, the connection opens immediately and ideas and words flow without hesitation.

Increased and better access to my creativity was not one of the benefits I expected, but it was an extremely welcome one. Now, after reading Naomi Wolf’s book “Vagina” and learning of the link between orgasm and creativity, I realise I should have expected any improved connection with my sexuality and increased sexual energy, could only benefit my creative process.

A direct line to my muse? I wouldn’t want to be presumptuous, but what a thought!
