In the story I’m madly working on at the moment, Siren, Elisabeth Tanner is a passionate, virginal bride-to-be, set in the British Virgin Islands in the early 19th century. Having grown up in a marginally less rigid society, with a companion/maid who would these days be considered a couples sex therapist (her reason for being employed in Elizabeth’s parents house provides an interesting secondary story) Beth is determined to enjoy the marriage bed.
The day of her engagement to scientist explorer William Swan – the day before he is to leave on a 6 week voyage – Beth gives her betrothed a notebook and asks him to write her a journal of pleasure while he’s away, to enlighten her in the joys of sex.
He goes one better and also has the sail-maker craft a sex-toy to practice with, and to give herself pleasure. Something like this, and 18th century dildo found in Poland, eight inches long and made of high quality leather with a carved wooden tip.
As usual, I did some digging on-line (hence the photo, above) and found some fascinating information on the history of sex aids.
I’ve been bitten by the historical bug… actually, I think I was bitten at birth, and this is in fact a serious relapse! I’ve always been a huge fan of historical fiction – and non-fiction – now I’m being sucked down into a glorious eddy of Victorian hedonism, vice and hidden, ancient sites in the name of research 😉
I can’t wait to share my discoveries as I explore the underground pleasures and taboos of historic London. Watch this space…
But now I have the cover, I better not get distracted by all those wicked temptations… I must write!
I love my latest story, but I have to admit, I’m hopeless when it comes to having a poker face myself. If you could see me right now, you would agree. It’s release day! and I’m grinning like a Cheshire cat, so pleased to be launching my precious love-child out into the world…
Want to know what the fuss is about? Here’s the low-down…
On a Thursday evening, in a boarded up theatre in downtown Las Vegas, an illicit poker game takes place. Each player is carefully selected, their skills expertly matched …
A jaded playboy tempted by a titillating prize.
A cash-strapped mechanic looking for a diversion from his difficult reality.
An underground poker game where winning hands are rewarded with sensual novelties… and the ultimate prize—a night of pleasure with the naked woman on whom the cards are dealt.
Pokerface is FMM menage. Contains adult themes and explicit sex scenes – recommended for 18+ readers.
As an added bonus I’ve included the RWA award winning short erotic story, ‘Daisy, Chained’ (in case you haven’t already read my sizzling martial arts story) because one of my favourite characters – Hiro – is in both.
And a little tip – Pokerface is available in epub and mobi, but the pdf version is the prettiest, if you’re into that sort of thing…
I’m excited to offer a free novelette to heat up your day (or night). ‘Mistress of His Heart’is a sensual erotic romance…
The last thing James Owens expects when he asks his ex-lover for a second chance is to be tied naked and blindfolded to her table, then tormented with a riding crop and hot wax…But in his hectic and stressful life, submitting to a Dominatrix might be just what he needs, especially when Lizzie pulls out the nipple clamps and his world explodes in pleasure.

Daisy is now out in the wide world and she’s made so many friends, I just had to share. If you love free books, the kind that make your toes curl, check these out (and be sure to share the joy with like-minded friends and lovers).

I’ve just been editing the short story that won the 2018 RWA Spicy Bites comp for erotic romance, Daisy, Chained about a girl who embraces her feminine nature after a chance encounter with a sexy martial arts instructor and his whip chain. It got me thinking about the relationship between pain and pleasure and why a taste of pain at just the right moment can increase or prolong sexual pleasure.
So, you guessed it, I did some digging…
Pain for pleasure has long been a sexual practice and, as well as dominance and submission, is an important element in BDSM. Like a drug, the pleasure experienced with pain can be addictive and lead to a choice of lifestyle that leaves ‘vanilla’ sex in the past.
Possibly in Daisy’s case, she receives some psychological healing with the experience of ‘good pain’ as explained by Dr. Jess O’Reilly: ‘If you’ve experienced pain in your past, you likely consider it a bad form of pain; by using pain as a source of pleasure, you can create a new type of pain — good pain.’ https://www.sexwithdrjess.com/podcast-2/#.Xlng05Mzb6d
For the first time – the first of a series of free story giveaways I have planned – I’m sending Daisy out into the wide world. If you’d like to read the juicy details of Daisy’s discovery of the pleasure/pain relationship in sex, and be notified of other free stories when they’re available, sign up:
I recently came across the term ‘Venus butterfly’ and the context intrigued me. Those two words conjure delicious imagery – two gorgeous beings, one the epitome of feminine sensuality, the other a beautiful creature with her wings spread.
It’s no secret. I cannot resist the lure of a second-hand book. Something about the mystery of who owned it before… How many owners – and how many others – had held it in their hands and read the very same pages? Words woven by a stranger, most likely no longer living. A voice reaching out from the past, still influencing the living.
Even less can I resist a book with titillating content. The title, ‘An Anthology of Erotic Prose’ can hardly be misinterpreted. I decided on the spot it would be mine, and I would savor the contents a little at a time.
My first expedition into new erotic landscapes was with Violette Leduc, a French author and protegée of Simone de Beauvoir.
Born the illegitimate daughter of a servant girl, young Violette spent most of her childhood suffering from an ugly self-image. Life become more interesting at boarding school where she experienced lesbian affairs with a classmate and a music instructor who was fired over the incident. Not surprising, the main subjects of her writing are female love and desire.
Well, it’s that time of year again – I’m off to Sydney for the annual RWA conference, and I’m going as a prize-winner!
I recently ranked first in the Spicy Bites competition, and my story Daisy, Chained, will appear in the annual RWA Short Story Anthology Chains, which is being released on August 18 (this Saturday).
The story was a pleasure to write, the words seeming to flow through me–almost writing themselves–from my imagination onto the page. I almost felt like an imposter when I heard I’d received a score of 100% from the judges.
I would love to share with you a short excerpt. But first a quick background…
Daisy, hiding the vulnerable side of her nature behind her adopted name Kalika (for the warrior goddess), is the only female member of a private martial arts club.
Hiro is a special guest, invited to demonstrate a weapon not previously used at the club – a chain whip. Sounds kinky, hey?
So… as I’ve been editing my 130,000 word novel (which I have now finished and am about to send off for a structural edit). Part of the process was reducing (or removing) some of the more intense or ‘unsuitable’ love scenes. One of the scenes I cut back was at the sensual ‘climax’ of the story, the first time my heroine her dark and damaged Champagne producer give in to their lust.
